Anwar Ibrahim to see the Malaysian King on Tuesday

After weeks of waiting, it is now official: Anwar Ibrahim has an audience with the King of Malaysia on Tuesday, Oct 13.

The audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah was expected. However, there were some delays.

The King was admitted in hospital on September 22, right before Anwar informed him of his majority in Parliament.

Malaysia’s Parliament has 222 MPs and Anwar Ibrahim revealed on Sept 23 that he has received the support of a majority of MPs.

This means he can become the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the country will have a new government.

On Twitter, Anwar has expressed his gratitude to His Majesty.

The opposition leader said he would present documentation of the “strong and convincing” support to the King.

If all goes well, a source close to Anwar told WFTV.LIVE, Anwar will then form the federal government.

Anwar also asked all Malaysians to remain calm.

“I ask all Malaysians to remain calm, protect their health and continue to pray from their homes and workplaces and follow the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) procedures,” he added in a statement to the media.

On Twitter, Anwar said:

“Alhamdulillah I am grateful to Allah because with His bounty and permission His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has recovered from the recent illness.”
