Recently, the trend of luxury brands embracing “quiet luxury” has taken storm all over social media. Brands like Chanel are not exactly known to be quiet in recent years as their logos are plastered on every single piece they produce. It goes to the point that their shirts, dresses, pants, skirts would all have their iconic CC logo. 

If the bags are expensive, you can opt for the card holder option which will set you back by $500 (RM2,400). 

However, one bag that does not have the CC turn lock logo, which was revived by Karl Lagerfeld in the 1980s, is the iconic 2.55 turn lock. Many do not know that the 2.55 at one point had the CC logo, but it wasn’t a turn lock model like you would see today.

The bag is also known to be a feminist piece back in the day, as it eases women from carrying out their daily tasks with both hands free. The bag remains to be one of the brand’s staple icons, despite it being less popular than the 11.12 classic flap bag or the le boy bag. 

There are many dupes of this specific bag as the logos are not obvious, and fast fashion brands like H&M, Shein, Panda Eyes are selling a relatively similar silhouette for around $10-$40 (RM50-RM200) . The 2.55 bag costs an eye watering amount these days in lieu of Chanel’s rigorous price increases.

The price for a brand new one would set you back over ($10,800) RM53,150. Critics of the brand have stated that less than a decade ago, the prices of these pieces were significantly less. For those who have not updated themselves in the fashion scene may find it to be a shock that these are the current prices of one of the most iconic bags in the world. 

You can find these pieces dating back to the 1950s, for significantly less than the current asking price. A 1960s model was recently sold for US$750 (RM3,577) on auction. There are countless consignment stores and vintage stores that are selling the modern remake for a lot cheaper than the new boutique prices as well.
