First in Asean: Vietnam carrier develops native 5G tech
A leading Vietnamese wireless carrier Viettel became the first in the Asean region to develop its own 5G equipment.
This enables the company to bypass China’s controversy-hit Huawei and it is good news for the rest of the world!
Huawei Technologies is now a leader in fifth-generation communications devices and equipment.
The US has banned Huawei and is looking for similar bans from other countries across the globe.
But President Donald Trump it is dissappointing that the UK is giving Huawei some role in its 5G networking.
VIETTEL A GLOBAL PLAYER
By becoming the sixth global player to develop 5G equipment it puts the company on the same level as Ericsson and Nokia.
What does 5G mean and what role does Ericsson play?
“5G will serve consumers, enterprises and take the internet of things to the next level,” says Ericsson.
It says initially, 5G will be a capacity enhancer in metropolitan areas that will enhance mobile broadband.
It will also fixe wireless access will be ways for operators to address explosive traffic growth for its global clientele.
Nokia is extending its partnership with Iliad Group in order to roll out 5G networks across France and Italy.
They will focus on network modernization and 5G introduction in the two countries, making 5G benefits available to 17M subscribers.

MID-2021 PRODUCTION TARGET
Viettel is fully owned by Vietnam’s Defense Ministry. and plans to start mass production of hardware and software in mid-2021.
Viettel looks to roll out commercial 5G services in June in large cities, initially adopting Nokia equipment for the high-speed network.
It is also eyeing equipment exports to the 10 developing countries including Myanmar and Cambodia.
