Historic day as Apple market cap hits world-record $3 trillion

Is Apple on an unstoppable march to domination as a tech company?

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) became the first company in world history to be valued at $3 trillion, making it a historic day for the US stock market.

Apple surpassed its latest market cap milestone in afternoon trading Monday, with its shares rising nearly 3% to $182.88 per share.

Apple shares fell to $182.01 after surpassing the $3 trillion market cap mark.

Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) is the only other company with a market cap comparable to Apple’s. Microsoft has a valuation of $2.5 trillion.

Alphabet, the parent company of Google (NASDAQ:GOOG), recently slipped out of the $2 trillion valuation club, with a market cap of $1.93 trillion on Monday.

For observers, it’s a remarkable milestone that, in effect, took decades to achieve.

Apple has other new products in the works that should help it to continue to grow market share and market cap further.
