India's CBI hunts for multimedia co based in Mauritius, Singapore

The Central Bureau of Investigation of India has sent judicial requests to four countries, including Mauritius, in connection with its probe into alleged corruption in the Antrix-Devas deal.

It is alleged that the deal caused corresponding loss to the Indian exchequer, said Hindustan Times.

Of interest to the CBI is an investment in Devas Multimedia Pvt Limited from four companies — one based in Singapore and three based in Mauritius — amounting to $130 million is under the scanner of the CBI, the sources said.

The CBI said it wanted details of Devas Multimedia and its parent company, seeking financial facts and alleged investment routed through Singapore and Mauritius, among other information, according to the Hindustan Times yesterday.

The case relates to the leasing of the S-Band, a restricted wavelength of INSAT satellites for delivering videos, multimedia and information services to mobile receivers to a Devas Multimedia, by Antrix, the commercial arm of the government’s space body, ISRO.
