Is Facebook's Metaverse a new 'world' or just another existing old one?

Is Facebook's Metaverse a new 'world' or just another existing old one?
This project is ahead of Metaverse but Facebook has the power of the money….

We’ve been visiting the so-called metaverse for decades, from Second Life to Habbo Hotel and they are proof that virtual worlds are already superior to Facebook’s metaverse!

This is what critics are saying since Facebook changed its name to Meta with the clearly stated intentions to create a ‘new’ universe where we will go to play, live and dance.

Metaverse is not a bold, new virtual frontier—an unexplored realm of digital avatars wearing garish NFT sneakers, holding business meetings on the surface of the moon using AR glasses, writes PC Gamer.

For these critics, Metaverse is an ill-defined buzzword. The aim is to include all of the internet’s worst aspects in 2021 (NFTs, cryptocurrencies, ever-present advertisements and rampant privacy concerns) into one place.

To drive their point, they say Metaverse is nothing more than the existing Second Life where the users have control and not one where Facebook will control your world.

Second Life is a sprawling virtual world largely moulded by its own players and developed by Linden Labs providing locations that are owned and designed by players.

The players use scenery frequently created by other players using built-in modelling and scripting tools and avatars can let you embody an average joe or a much sexier joe, or vampires, anthropomorphised animals and so on. You can build your own parts or buy parts created by others.

VIRTUAL WORLD MOVIES

And if you think Metaverse will be a world that never existed in which you will find the total freedom that you do not have (apparently) now in the real world, watch this video.

Who do not remember watching these movies that blew your mind away with the infinite possibilities the gaming world offers?

Years ago, people were already explaining what Metaverse is supposed to do. Watch the video below to understand where we are going.
