Is the PAS-UMNO heading for a divorce?

The PAS is fighting for hard to keep the government it helped broker in power, but Umno is thinking otherwise.

This is threatening the Muafakat Nasional, the alliance between the PAS and the Umno.

Reports suggest the PAS is now more interested in the PN where it sees more rewards, than in the MN.

Whether they are heavenly rewards ditched on them on earth or not, they are looking at the future.

If their deal with the Umno does not work, the PAS will surely move on to find another groom.

It is said the PAS is the bride in the MN alliance.

RUNAWAY GROOM?

In this instance, the Umno is playing the run away groom. The PAS is asking the largest Malay party for answers on its move to support Anwar Ibrahim.

While the country is still waiting for a resolution of Anwar’s audience with the King last Tuesday, the PAS is in tatters.

It is not certain if the Umno is running to Anwar and for what reason. The MN has been a successful entity. It reflected the demands and wishes of the population. That is an all-Malay alliance to bring down the Pakatan Harapan.

The MN succeeded in its mission with a sleepless Hadi Awang winning in dropping his love for Mahathir Muhamad.

The PAS leader loves Muhyiddin more, indeed. Muhyiddin gave him a super-ministerial post as an Arabic speaker.

UMNO-ANWAR: STILL ON?

The love affair between Umno and Anwar is complex. Anwar is certain the Umno MPs will support him. He never mentioned Umno MPs at any given time.

But observers and insiders say there is only one party with a large number of Malay MPs, Umno.

Hence, we take it for granted that some Umno MPs are still willing to work with Anwar unconditionally.

Are their numbers dwindling after the backlash from the last Tuesday letter from the Istana?

Did the letters leaked to the media purportedly from the Umno leader Ahmad Zahid Hamidi showing support for Anwar get the MPs to become shy?

Did they change their minds? We do not think so but what is certain is the party, Umno is making demands to Muhyiddin.

The aim may not be to get the DPM post, which is rejected anyways, but to get a DPM post from Anwar, perhaps.

UMNO-PAS DIVORCE?

According to Free Malaysia Today, the PAS is swinging towards Muhyiddin. Not a bad decision if you want to remain in power, for now.

They are not sure if they can retain their Cabinet positions with Anwar as PM.

The PAS is unable to work with the Keadilan, Anwar’s party because it is ‘under the influence’ of the DAP.

But with the PAS swinging towards Bersatu in the PN, it is surely getting away from Umno.

Nevertheless, we believe the PAS will work with Umno to form a new government if Anwar agrees to some of their terms.

The term will be to see reduced influence of the DAP in the government. But Anwar has said the support from MPs is unconditional.

He meant the MPs are not to impose any conditions. But he also meant the MPs will have to accept the conditions imposed by the PH.

If the conditions means lesser DAP influence in the government, that may accommodate the PAS.

Hence, the PAS may still save some face if it is not a divorce with Umno. But then, the PAS is anti-AMANAH. How will this work?
