ISIS woman sentenced to prison in France

A French woman who went to Syria with her three children to join the ISIS group in 2014, was sentenced to prison in Paris, France.

At the trial, the judge sentenced her to 14 years in prison. The woman is Jihane Makhzoumi.

The judge stated that the 38-year-old French woman was guilty of a number of charges including terrorism and child neglect.

The woman was arrested at the Paris airport on her return with her three children in 2016.

At the trial, the prosecutor said that Makhzoumi had the personality of “terrible egocentrism” and “never showed an ability to empathize”.

When the prison sentence was read out by the judge, Makhzoumi looked surprised though.

Her lawyer called the verdict “absolutely disproportionate” and they said they would appeal.

Sources say Jihane Makhzoumi was arrested in Paris after she was expelled from Turkey.

They say she was cunning in plotting her escape and that of her children from Syria.

Makhzoumi left France with her partner Eddy Leroux – another IS convert believed to have been killed in Syria.

She left a fourth child, the daughter of Leroux, in Syria. The mother of the child claims Makhzoumi sold her child, Jana in Syria.

Jana’s mother also claims her daughter can only speak ‘Arabic’ in Syria.
