'Jewish-Indian plot' arm twisting Pakistan's Imran Khan to recognise Israel?

Arm twisting Imran Khan to recognise Israel with a ‘Jewish-Indian plot’?

In Pakistan, the opposition wants the people the believe the Israelis and Indians are funding Prime Minister Imran Khan. The aim is to get Pakistan to recognise Israel.

An interesting perspective if we look at a commentary published in Haaretz. Read the full article here: In Pakistan, Israel is Now an Even More Explosive Political Issue.

Written by Hamza Azhar Salam, a Pakistani journalist based in London, the article says opponents are unrelenting in their accusations against the Pakistani PM.

The opposition leaders also have the name of the funder who is allegedly behind Imran Khan. Barry C. Schneps.

They say he is the mastermind behind an illegal decade-old scheme to fund Imran Khan for the benefit of the State of Israel.

The accusations against Khan became persistent after the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain shook hands with Tel Aviv.

They established a controversial diplomatic relationship with Israel.

Next on the line was Saudi Arabia, which the American and Israeli media said was on the verge of recognising Israel.

But it did not happen, not officially and the trinket is now thrown on Pakistan.

There were reports from Pakistan that a bigger ‘brother’ country—allegedly Saudi Arabia— was pressing Pakistan to have official diplomatic relations with Israel.

MARYAM NAWAZ

The main opposition leader harassing Khan on the Israel issue is Maryam Nawaz Sharif who directly accused Khan of taking funds from Israel. Maryam is the daughter of former PM Mian Nawaz Sharif.

Maryam Nawaz heads the biggest centrist opposition party (Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, or PML-N).

“Do you know who funded Imran Khan from India? Bharatiya Janata Party member Inder Dosanjh. And the Israeli who funded him was Barry C. Schneps.”

This accusations laid against the Prime Minister are not new.

In 2017, Akbar Sher Babar has petitioned the Election Commission (EC) that Imran Khan’s party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has received over three million dollars as donations between 2010 and 2013.

A part of the money was transferred to Pakistan from prohibited sources such as US-based private companies Barry C. Schneps, Lab USA Inc., Freedom Line Ltd, IMGC Global LLC, Goldrock Holdings LLC and Prime Motor LLC etc.

It is a true story so far, for Khan’s opponents. But Maryam Nawaz maintains “countless” Indians and Israelis had funded Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf party.

“When you take money from someone, you have to do their bidding,” she warns.

The opposition is also rallying huge crowds on the basis of a possible but not confirmed establishment of relations with Israel.

In Pakistan, says the writer Hamzah, the anti-Israel sentiment is huge. Look at the picture of the rally organised by the opposition parties. (Insert Picture).

The opposition brought the head of the militant group Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, to speak at the rally.

“Pakistan has always supported the Palestinians’ struggle” and that Palestinians, in response, “care for the sentiments of the Pakistani nation.”

Ekrima Sabri, imam of the Al-Aqsa mosque was also among the speakers saying the Muslim “ummah is not ready to accept defeat.

The rally defused any ardour (if it was existent) from the government to push for the recognition of Israel. It also cemented the belief among shocked Pakistanis that Khan is taking Israeli money.

The fact that foreigners could speak against the leader of Pakistan in his country is amazing. Not many countries will allow such an affront. Is Khan more democratic than what we think?

CORRUPT PTI?

Nevertheless, is he the tool of foreign powers like India or Israel? Is he taking money from these countries that are considered the enemies of Pakistan?

There is no doubt the people will react and will reject Khan in the next elections if these allegations are true.

The initial accusations against Khan come from Mr Babar, a founding member of the PTI and he is fighting Khan for the control of the army-backed party.

However, the Election Commission of Pakistan has not been prompt in responding to Babar’s accusations against the PTI.

The resolution of the case of foreign money funding and the challenge by Babar against Khan is not apparent. There is no end to it.

The Election Commission is silent on these cases. Khan is free to continue reigning as PM as long as the EC does not act. Sounds suspicious?

Khan is now facing an umbrella of the opposition parties called the Pakistan Democratic Movement.

However, as long as Khan has the support of the army, it is difficult for the opposition to overturn his regime.

The question is whether the army generals will allow Khan to open the doors to Israel and to India?

This will probably the line that Imran Khan will not dare cross unless the army is roped in to accept the normalisation of relations with Israel.

And there is one more sticky point in this whole affair of India-Israel lobby in Pakistan.

What is China, the biggest foreign ally of the Pakistani government, do if India gets its way in Pakistan?
