Muhyiddin Using Soft Power To Win Over Opponents. At What Cost?

Muhyiddin Using Soft Power To Win Over Opponents. At What Cost?

Kuala Lumpur: Why is the Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin always one step ahead of his rivals?

Here are three examples of Muhyiddin’s success because of his use of soft power. Everyone thought it was over when Anwar Ibrahim, the opposition leader, announced that he had a comfortable and formidable majority to become Prime Minister. Muhyiddin will be deposed, and the PN administration will be overthrown, they say.

However, the opposite occurred. With the publication of Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s letter endorsing Anwar as PM, Muhyiddin received help from unknown sources.

Umno’s move to back Anwar was effectively thwarted because of this. Muhyiddin also used soft power when Umno pressed him to choose a deputy prime minister.

Muhyiddin appointed a deputy PM on the eve of an Umno meeting to decide whether to stay in the PN coalition or leave.

This is how the PM counters the threats issued by his opponents!

The grass was chopped under Zahid’s feet when DS Ismail Sabri was promoted to the number two position in the government.

Muhyiddin had another triumph. Anwar was struck by Muhyiddin for the second time.

On Monday, the Malaysian Parliament began a special session. Anwar and his opposition MPs, as well as potentially Zahid Hamidi and his group of MPs, hoped to force a vote against Muhyiddin. The goal was most likely to persuade the house to approve a vote on the fate of the ‘Darurat,’ or Emergency Ordinances.

DARURAT IS OVER

In a speech to the Parliament, de-facto Law Minister Takiyuddin Hassan stated the emergency had essentially ended on July 21. This astounded the opposition and critics. While Anwar is debating why the King was not informed of the end of the emergency, Muhyiddin triumphed once more!

Anwar Ibrahim’s party gives away too much information…Muhyiddin uses them at will…

Muhyiddin’s skill in employing soft power and striking from afar and undercover is clear. His opponents are overly trusting, and they are continuously revealing their strategies and plans to their political adversaries.

They value freedom of expression so much that almost every member of their alliance is free to express themselves. This provides an insight for the Bersatu and government forces in the opposition’s plans.

Muhyiddin has shown repeatedly that he operates in the shadows and undercover. But for how long will he align his political future with the opposition’s naivete? They’ll eventually set a trap for Muhyiddin, and he’ll be caught red-handed!
