NZ Mosque terrorist Trant gets life imprisonment
The Christchurch mosque attacker Brenton Tarrant will never be released from jail. He gets life and will be known as the first terrorist to get jail in New Zealand.
He is a terrorist, an inhumane and wicked mass killer – a “monster” and “undoubtedly” New Zealand’s “worst murderer”.
And now Brenton Harrison Tarrant will never be released from prison. He is spending the rest of his life behind bars without any possibility of parole.
Today he is sentenced and he will never, ever be freed in the first-ever time in recorded history the sentence is imposed.
SILENCE IN COURT
The killer was silent in court. He said little and expressing no real remorse. He was alone and without even his own lawyer.
The New Zealand Herald says if he was in America, he could have been sentenced to death or given a cumulative jail sentence of more than 1000 years.
“Neither option is available in New Zealand. There are many good reasons for having no death penalty, including in this case the denial of any aspirations to martyrdom.”
Brenton Tarrant, 29, admitted to the murder of 51 people, attempted murder of another 40 people and one charge of terrorism.
During the proceedings, the judge called his actions “inhuman”, adding that he had “showed no mercy”.
The attack took place last March. It was livestreamed and it shocked the world.
The gunman opened fire on two mosques in Christchurch on 15 March 2019.
His target were worshippers inside the Al Noor masjid, and less than 30 seconds later, he returned to his car to pick up another weapon.
He re-entered the mosque and resumed firing on those inside.
He killed 51 people and injured 40.
