PH should expect another round of betrayal

The Pakatan Harapan coalition is in limbo and it should expect another round of betrayal.

We draw this conclusion from the current composition of the PH. It has the PKR of Anwar Ibrahim, the Amanah of Mat Sabu and the DAP of Lim Guan Eng.

It also has a break-away faction from the Bersatu as an ally. This faction still calls itself “Bersatu” and the other “Bersatu” with Muhyiddin as the leader is wooing them.

Muhyiddin Yassin, the new Prime Minister, wants Mahathir to come back to the party and to lead while he is the PM.

BERSATU DIVIDED OR NOT?

Muhyiddin Yassin took power after Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned. This got Mahathir to claim Muhyiddin is a traitor.

The situation in Bersatu is more confusing.

Mahathir is the leader of the ‘break-away’ Bersatu faction that is still (officially) in Bersatu. They are not leaving the party but the party was taken over by a group of MPs.

Most of the MPs who took control of the Bersatu are ‘frogs’. MPS who jumped from the opposition to join them in power. There is also the group of 9 MPs who left the PKR.

The group of MPs with Muhyiddin as the leader do not want to work with Pakatan Harapan. They are working with Umno-PAS and other parties from the opposition to form the new government.

MAHATHIR VS ANWAR

Back to the PH, Mahathir is now lambasting Anwar for his leadership skills and for his attempt to become PM.

Mahathir made it clear to his ‘wing’ in the Bersatu that Anwar seems greedy to want either the PM or the deputy PM post.

Which he clearly does not agree with and thus rejected Anwar’s plans to become the deputy PM.

Mahathir is saying all this to contain Anwar and take control of the PH. For now, Anwar is pretty much the powerful leader of the PH.

But he risks losing this clout if Mahathir continues his crusade against Anwar.

Not only he did everything to prevent Anwar from taking power, but he is also now in the PH and is undermining Anwar.
