Was Huawei's Network A Target In The Sniffing Of the Internet?

Port Louis is at the forefront of an international scandal if it is proven that the Huawei’s network was a target of the sniffing of internet traffic ordered by Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth.

According to sources, Jugnauth ordered the Chief Executive of Mauritius Telecoms to spy on a specific network in Mauritius. The sources say the target was most definitely the Huawei network in Mauritius.

The sources say the spying was not about Huawei alone and it could also involve spying on China’s activities in the country and the region.

The information World Future can share here is this: A team of three Indian ‘experts’ were in a vehicle outside the Mauritius Telecoms offices and they were fed information for hours on internet traffic targeting the Safe City network.

The Safe City is built by Huawei which is a major Chinese telecommunications company operating world wide.

Sniffing safe City

According to Hoover Network, The Mauritius Safe City Project (MSCP), which is funded by a loan from China, has been cloaked in secrecy from the beginning.

The MSCP is similar to other initiatives in Africa that are closely related to monitoring and regulation.

The Hoover Network asks on its portal whether the island nation is recognised for being a beacon of democracy adopting China’s Big Brother model?

Events in Mauritius does seems to confirm that the current regime in Mauritius is not adopting a democratic approach, it is in violation of all historic and democratic rights in the country.

However, if it allowed Indian spies to tap from the local internet, it is then a severe accusation and if proven by the former Chief Executive of the Telecoms, it may inflame the good relationship between Mauritius and China.

Sherry Singh, the former CEO of Mauritius Telecom resigned and has since then accused the PM of Mauritius of ordering the sniffing of the internet at the Telecoms.

There are many questions now that arises and one of them is what will China do in retaliation?

The sources also say the Prince or Sherry Singh has the CC TV recordings and crucial information on the tapping exercise arranged by a superior officer of the Telecoms on behalf of the PM for the Indian spies.
