7 new Covid-19 clusters, two involving schools | Free Malaysia Today - Free Malaysia Today

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported seven new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has announced.
In a statement, he said it involved two schools, four communities, and one workplace.
The clusters were detected in Kelantan, Sarawak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
Two clusters each were detected in Sarawak and Penang while one cluster each was reported in Kuala Lumpur, Kelantan and Selangor.
Clusters that recorded the highest spike in cases were Pulai Chondong (79 cases), Kampung Domis (51) and Sungai Rian (47).
Noor Hisham said a total of 1,541 clusters have been recorded so far, of which 340 are still active.
Seven clusters have officially ended today. They are the Jalan Industri Sofa, Andromeda, Nanga Bulo, Sungai Gadut, Jalan Changkat Jong, Jalan Awangi and Jalan Salak construction site clusters.
The new clusters are:
Sarawak:
- Kampung Tengah Betong – a community cluster in Betong. The index case tested positive on April 9 in a screening after exhibiting symptoms. 381 people have undergone medical swabs with 15 positive cases.
- Sungai Rian – a community cluster involving communities in Sungai Rian, Bintangor and Meradong. The index case was tested positive on April 12. 119 have undergone medical swabs, with 48 testing positive.
Selangor:
- Jalan Meranti – a community cluster involving Hulu Selangor and Gombak. The index cluster from Bandar Baru Batang Kali was tested positive on April 15 after exhibiting symptoms. 50 individuals have been tested with nine positive cases.
Kuala Lumpur:
- Taman Dato Senu – a community cluster involving Kepong and Titiwangsa. The index cluster started from a social event in Sentul on April 10. 55 people have undergone medical swabs, and 12 were tested positive.
Kelantan:
- Jalan Pasir Mas, Pohon Tanjung – a school cluster involving Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah. The index case from Jalan Pasir Mas, Pohon Tanjung in Pasir Mas was reported positive on April 14. 46 individuals have been tested, with 28 positive.
Penang:
- Jalan Padang Lallang – a school cluster in Seberang Perai Tengah. The index case tested positive on April 17 during a screening test after exhibiting symptoms. The cluster involves students from Jalan Padang Lallang in Bukit Mertajam. 39 individuals have been tested with nine testing positive.
- Hala Kampung Jawa – a workplace cluster in Seberang Perai Utara. The index case tested positive on April 5 after targeted medical swaps were carried out among factory workers at Hala Kampung Jawa 2, Bayan Lepas Industrial area. 286 people were screened, with 23 testing positive.
