Ukays ex-guitarist Akel Zainal joined ISIS

The Malaysian left for Syria to join the war at the beginning of the Syrian conflict

Ukays ex-guitarist Akel Zainal has apparently joined the ISIS.

He is one of four Malaysians who are top leaders of the extremist group.

However, the three other individuals from the disbanded Kumpulan Mujahidin Malaysia.

Mohd Rafi Udin is one of them and two others known only by their nick names.

They are  Abu Gomez and Abu Zar, says Harian Metro.

Mohd Rafi Udin was seen two years ago in an ISIS video.

He gave a warning that his group were on the brink to launch attacks in the country.

Akel’s real name is Wan Mohd Aquil Wan Zainal.

He first joined the ISIS when the conflict started in Syria.

Akel Zainal went to Syria to take part in the war against the Bashir Al Asad regime.

Meanwhile, local authorities believe he is behind the recruitment of female students from local universities.

A student from Kolej University Islam Antarabangsa Selangor ran-off to Syria to marry him.

She is identified as Syamimi Faiqah.

ISIS members are active on Social media platforms.

They use Telegram as the main tool for communication.

They also have their propaganda material online for download.

The Philipinnes armed forces killed two Malaysian men who joined insurgents in Mindanao last year.

In fact, Malaysia’s Special Branch police said at least five other Malaysians were in Marawi City.

Nevertheless, the Philippines battled an insurgent movement in Mindanao for months last year.
