Call To Preserve Justice And Democracy In Myanmar

Myanmar Ethnic Rohingya Human Rights Organization Malaysia (MERHROM) urges support from global organisations to push for genuine democracy in Myanmar.

The media release from the group depicts the failures of all the relevant organisations, from the United Nations to the International Criminal Court in dealing with crimes in Myanmar.

We have everything in the world to save us from GENOCIDE but it was not fully used to help us. We have the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) where basic human rights are stipulated. Unfortunately, NONE of these RIGHTS belongs to us. It is shameful that we can only see the UDHR on paper but we cannot embrace it in our life. All our rights have been taken away by the regime,” writes Zafar Ahmad Bin Abdul Ghani, President, MERHROM.

Now the entire people of Myanmar are persecuted by the (military) regime but the people are waiting for help to arrive.

He lists the conventions on the Rights of the Child, Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). “But, Ironically, children and women became the target by military junta regimes and suffered the most.”

The UNSC has also failed to act resulting in a bigger problem now. Calling the UN and its agencies as ‘useless’ he says it’s time to act.

“We should not call ourselves a civilized nation until we respect each other’s rights. Action against the military junta regime that commits severe crimes against humanity is needed.”

The statement blames world leaders and the International Communities at large for the failure in Myanmar.
