Cops probing Takiyuddin's statement on King, says IGP - Free Malaysia Today

Reports have been lodged against Takiyuddin Hassan for his comments over the King’s call for Parliament to reconvene as soon as possible.

PETALING JAYA: Law minister Takiyuddin Hassan is being probed by police over comments made about the King’s call for Parliament to be reconvened, the nation’s top cop revealed.

Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani confirmed that police have received reports lodged against Takiyuddin.

“If need be, the relevant individuals will be called to facilitate the investigation,” he said in a brief statement.

Acryl Sani said this in response to media queries on the issue revolving around Takiyuddin.

His statement comes hours after home minister Hamzah Zainudin hinted that police will investigate Takiyuddin, who is also PAS secretary-general.

On Wednesday, Takiyuddin said the King had not set a firm date when he decreed that Parliament should reconvene as soon as possible.

Takiyuddin also said Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin had announced that Parliament would sit in September or October.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) Youth subsequently lodged police reports against Takiyuddin for “insulting the King”.

Hamzah said anyone who incited the public and created uneasiness would be probed, especially if a police report was lodged against them.

The King had said Parliament should reconvene as soon as possible to debate the emergency ordinances and the Covid-19 national recovery plan.
