PETALING JAYA: Police are tracking down a group of men for assaulting a foreigner, a video of which went viral on social media.
A one and a half minute recording of the incident, believed to have occurred at Taman Alam Jaya in Kajang at 2.30pm yesterday, showed the victim surrounded and attacked by the group on the sidewalk.
Kajang district police chief Mohd Zaid Hassan said police were looking for Yusuf Azmi and Abang Ali, and several others yet to be identified.
In a statement late last night, he said the incident was being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for criminal violence.
Zaid said the video also appeared to show the men in violation of SOPs. This would be investigated under Section 29 of the Penal Code and Section 22(b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
