Covid-19: 550 breached MCO with 532 compounded on Thursday (May 20) - The Star Online

PETALING JAYA: A total of 550 people violated the movement control order on Thursday (May 20), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic).

The Senior Minister said out of that number, 532 were issued compounds, 17 were remanded while another was out on bail.

Among the violations committed were failure to record personal details before entering premises (193), failure to wear masks (122), failure to obey instructions concerning movement control (72), not maintaining physical distancing (57), crossing states or districts without permission (four), having an open house (one), and other violations (101).

In a statement on Friday (May 21), he said the task force led by police conducted 69,617 checks, involving 15,226 enforcement officials.

These officials conducted checks on 4,240 supermarkets, 5,493 restaurants, 2,543 factories, 3,918 banks, 1,289 government offices, and 2,452 hawker or petty trader stalls.

Checks were also carried out at 1,912 markets, 3,271 places of worship, 1,766 recreational areas, 1,851 land transportation terminals, 306 water transportation terminals, 86 air transportation terminals.

On Thursday (May 20), 673 individuals arrived at the international entry points and all were quarantined.

In the same 24-hour span, 146 sanitisation operations took place encompassing 61 red zones, three orange zones and nine yellow zones nationwide.

Some 337 migrant workers underwent screening, with 10 positive cases detected.

Under Ops Benteng, 25 undocumented migrants were arrested while two land transport vehicles were seized.
