Covid-19 (May 15): New record 44 deaths; cases above 4k mark for fourth day - Malaysiakini

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 4,140 new Covid-19 cases as the country entered its fourth day above the 4,000-mark.

There were also 44 deaths, the highest on record for the country.

This is the third time in seven days that fatalities have hit record highs.

The previous records were 39 deaths on May 12, and 26 deaths on May 9.

The number of patients in ICUs also continues to climb to new highs.

  • Active cases: 42,135
  • Patients in ICUs: 503*
  • Intubated: 272

Notably, Kelantan (190) reported far fewer new cases compared to the average during 14 days prior (352).

The only regions not reporting new Covid-19 case in the triple digits are Perlis, Labuan, Putrajaya, Sabah and Malacca.

The Health Ministry is not expected to provide further updates until later this evening.
