Disinformation rife but Umno seems divided on its future

While the Barisan Nasional is meeting and the Umno is debating its future, there is an apparent split on the party’s future.

Malaysia has entered a new political instability after the King of Malaysia issued a statement shooting down PM Muhyiddin Yassin’s request for the implementation of emergency contingencies in Malaysia.

The slap against the PM is taking a sudden turn. All governing political parties are debating whether Muhyiddin should quit.

But the Bersatu does not seem to agree that Muhyiddin has reached the end of the road. They are, sources say, trying to repackage the rebuff into a success story.

But some in the PN are saying they got a new plan, which means they are still politicking.

While there is a lot of misinformation on what the ruling parties are discussing, Najib Razak is said to have urged the BN to give support to Anwar Ibrahim.

SPLIT AND SNAP POLLS

We believe no one should give credence to this piece of information.

This may be part of the disinformation campaign to hurt Anwar’s chances in his bid to be the ninth PM of Malaysia.

Nevertheless, speaking to the media, Najib says whatever decision Umno were to make it should not split the party.

This is indication there is a split in the party and this split is surely widening after the failed bid by Muhyiddin to concentrate power in his hands.

Those who support Muhyiddin, surely the Umno ministers, would not want the party to leave the government.

But those who are the backbenchers are the ones who should be fighting for a better deal. Or they could be arguing the party should leave the government to force for snap polls.

Unless, the pro-Anwar faction in the BN-Umno decides to weigh in and pull the party towards the opposition leader.

However, if they remain silent and do not act , they will lose this opportunity.

This is the time for them to make the right move. Take the party, the country out of the troubled waters.

BLURRED FUTURE

In the meantime, Umno is facing a bleak future with its alliance with the Bersatu. The grass root is unhappy that many of its top leaders are left out of the government’s decision process.

They are threatening to abandon Muhyiddin Yassin in Parliament, that is they will press their MPs to do so.

Their target is the Budget vote. If the party can’t find a solution to its problems with Bersatu, its MPs may not support the Budget.

There is the possibility the Umno will remain split as long as it sticks to the PN.
