Doctor dies after crashing Porsche - The Star Online

BATU PAHAT: An early morning collision between a Porsche and a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) at KM2 along Jalan Kluang-Batu Pahat here has claimed the life of a doctor.
In the incident, Dr Noor Zairul Muhamad, 50, a doctor at a private hospital here, was driving his Porsche from Sri Gading heading towards Batu Pahat town.
Batu Pahat OCPD Asst Comm Ismail Dollah said police received a call around 9.40am yesterday about the incident.
“Initial investigation showed that the victim was driving alone from Sri Gading heading towards town at 9am when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a streetlight.
“The car then entered the opposite lane and collided with an MPV driven by a 31-year-old man, ” he said.
ACP Ismail said the victim suffered serious injuries from the impact and died at the scene.
The driver of the MPV also sustained injuries to his head and was brought to Pantai Hospital for medical treatment.
Both men were from Batu Pahat, he added.
Dr Noor Zairul’s body has been brought to Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail here for a postmortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
In an unrelated matter, police arrested two youths, including a 21-year-old woman, after a video of them performing a “wheelie” stunt with their motorcycle went viral on social media.
ACP Ismail said police spotted the video showing the suspects performing the stunt at around 2.30pm on Friday.
“Investigations so far revealed that the stunt, which lasted about 31 seconds, took place along Jalan Dato’ Syed Esa here on May 10.
“Based on information, police arrested the female motorcyclist and a 16-year-old male pillion rider at their homes in Jalan Pantai here at around 4.45pm on Friday, ” he said.
They also seized the motorcycle used to perform the stunt, he added.
“The two suspects were later released on police bail, ” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Amendment 2020).
He advised the public not to carry out any dangerous stunt that could put their lives or other road users in danger, and urged parents to keep a close watch on their children.
