Dr Boo: No ganging up for me in Johor DAP polls - The Star Online

JOHOR BARU: A former state DAP chairman has denied allegations that he has teamed up with his former foe to topple the party’s incumbent state party chief Liew Chin Tong.
Dr Boo Cheng Hau (pic) said that he and Johor DAP secretary Tan Hong Pin – who have been speculated to be teaming up behind the scenes – have not been in communication with each other for the past three years.
“I don’t gang up with anyone. Anyone who is spreading the speculation is hallucinating. In fact, the last time I spoke to him (Tan) was before the election in 2018,” he said when contacted here.
In 2018, ahead of the 14th general election, Dr Boo, who was the then two-term assemblymen of Skudai was replaced by his former protégé, Tan, who was the Mengkibol assemblyman then.
Dr Boo however said that he doesn’t hold any grudge towards Tan and has since moved on from the incident.
“We still say ‘hi’ and ‘bye’ to each other when we meet at events. It was a long time ago and I have moved on,” he said.
The upcoming Johor DAP polls, which will take place on Sunday (May 2) in Batu Pahat would see some 1,500 eligible voting members from 210 branches casting their votes for some 37 candidates.
There are said to be three political camps in Johor – one is led by Liew, another by his former aide and Skudai assemblyman Tan and the third by Dr Boo.
