Dr Wee: Negligence the most likely cause of LRT mishap - The Star Online

KUALA LUMPUR: Negligence is the likely cause behind the train collision in the tunnel between the KLCC and Kampung Baru LRT stations, says Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

“We will investigate all possibilities and angles. We have our SOP, and those involved in the investigations are not those who are involved in the operations of the LRT because we have to be fair to all parties,” he said.

He also said that no stone would be left unturned in the investigations.

“All our teams have started work, and we have identified the experts we want involved, ” he said.

He added that a report would be completed two weeks from the day of the incident.

“No assumptions will be made now. We will see how it happened, why it happened and what is needed to address the drawbacks, ” he said at a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on Tuesday (May 25).

“Then a report would be sent to the Minister and it will be discussed at the Cabinet level. We are working day and night, ” he said.

The Minister also thanked all parties involved in the rescue, including the police and firefighters.

Kuala Lumpur Hospital director Datuk Dr Heric Corray said that three patients are still in the ICU ward.

“The three are in a semi-critical condition, but they are stable. Injuries range from internal bleeding to fractured bones. One has injuries to the chest, ” he said, adding that in total, six patients were still warded.

He added that 61 patients have been treated and discharged from the emergency ward.
