A French woman states that 30 years ago, Hermes’ service towards their customers buying a handbag was different from what it is today. One of the biggest things is that you can leave a bag under reservation for months. Today, even an unpopular bag would be snatched up by another customer immediately.

The “top of the tier” luxury brand has been going strong over the decades. They pride themselves in their utmost quality which is reflected in their products. However, their brand has been rather saturated, despite their steep prices. On social media, many observed the fact that influencers are drowning in their coveted bags.

In contrast to LVMH and Gucci’s Kerings results, Hermes has posted major profitability during the same time they’re posting losses or reductions in profitability. Vogue Business states, Hermès reported impressive sales growth of 13.3% at constant exchange rates in Q2, reaching €3.7 billion. Europe (excluding France) and Japan led the way with 18% and 19.5% growth, respectively.

Despite challenges in China, Hermès thrived due to its appeal to sophisticated customers seeking high-quality products. Ready-to-wear, accessories, and leather goods performed well, while watches faced pressure. Compared to other luxury brands, Hermès outshone Gucci, LVMH, Richemont, Burberry, and Hugo Boss.

Additionally, the woman adds that buying a big ticket item from Hermes back in the day, you’d get a free shawl or a bottle of perfume. Nowadays, the experience is not the same. It appears that this is rather reflective to most designer brands as the extra touches were reflected in all of them.

A commenter states that back in the day, if someone were to purchase a crocodile exotic kelly bag, they would receive a handshake from the store’s director. Nowadays, you’d be lucky if the brand would even allow you to purchase these bags.
