Hurray Malaysia: Winds of change hits the kleptocratic nation
Incredible. this is what it is. Malaysia witnessed an incredible surge in Facebook Online viewing with Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for PM Tun Mahathir’s final message to the Malaysians.
Facebook was flooded with comments, viewers sharing and likes of the live video show from Langkawi.
There more than one camera streaming Mahathir’s historic speech. One camera showed more than 220,000 viewers, while other cams showed 50,000 over viewers simultaneously.
This has never happened in Malaysia where the government controls the mainstream media with a tight fist.
Compared to this show of force and popularity, Najib Razak, the Prime Minister of Malaysia delivered a lame performance.
But he had no more than 16,000 viewers at one time.
If that is any indication, it shows the opposition has, once again like in 2013 won the social media battle.
Not only that, it won this battle – despite the Ahmad Maslan’s online gang – with an upper hand. The Barisan Nasional was far behind in its online and social media showing.
Today the voting is on and everywhere we checked there are long lines of voters who went out to cast their ballot.
The counting process will be a lengthy one and will start as soon as the voting centres are closed.
But signs of a Malaysian Tsunami is on the cards.
Taxi drivers, who have traditionally been BN supporters, turned up in droves in some areas of Kuala Lumpur with the PKR logo on their hoods.
This is a definite change!
What will be the voter count? It appears it might be another historic first for Malaysia.
The number of voters at the voting centres are simply crunching and many are reporting on their social media pages they had to wait for 2 hours or more and they did not vote yet!
Hurray Malaysia!
