Ignore rumours, Pak Lah is fine, says ex-PM's office - Free Malaysia Today

PETALING JAYA: The office of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has rubbished fresh rumours that the fifth prime minister has passed away, saying he is fine.

In a statement, the office said Abdullah, who is fondly known as Pak Lah, is in good health.

It warned that it will take legal action against those spreading false news about the former prime minister’s health.

It said the people should check the legitimacy of any news with the authorities “before spreading information that can lead to confusion”.

Similar rumours had gone around in August last year after an article was published on Abdullah’s death, with his special officer subsequently lodging a police report over the fake news.

The case was later classified as not requiring further action, with then inspector-general of police Abdul Hamid Bador saying there was a miscommunication over the matter and no ill intention was meant by the author of the article.

Abdullah, who was the fifth prime minister from 2003 to 2009, will turn 82 this year.
