Is Facebook Profiting From Vaccine Disinformation?

Is Facebook being dishonest about vaccine disinformation on its platform and if so, is it profiting from it?

Some researchers say that Facebook isn’t being transparent enough about Covid-19 content on its platform.

US President Joe Biden says Facebook is “killing people” by enabling the spread of Covid-19 misinformation but he backtracked on his accusations.

Facebook replied to him saying it is purging vax disinformation from its platform. It also says it is publishing information on where to get vaccinated in the USA.

While it is true Facebook does allow information on where to get vaccinated. The other truth is it did not do enough to prevent a large amount of anti-vax campaigns.

And we all know that Facebook makes money with advertising and the question is whether these campaigns are making Facebook rich?

VOX says Facebook isn’t giving researchers enough of the real-time data they need to figure out exactly how much Covid-19 misinformation is on the platform, who’s seeing it, and how it’s impacting their willingness to get vaccinated.

For Facebook, it is always about money. Recently, we published an article showing how Facebook allows China to buy ads space on its platform.

The Chinese propaganda is against the Uyghur Muslim community in the Xinjiang province. The Chinese communist party pays a lot of money for these ads, though some accused Facebook of discounting the ads share for the CCP.

Facebook replied to these accusations in global media by saying it has to allow some ads but it is controlling the content.
