Klang Valley roadblocks will follow district borders, says IGP - The Star Online

KUALA LUMPUR: Roadblocks in the Klang Valley will focus on borders of administrative districts, says Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

The Inspector-General of Police said the roadblocks at district borders started on Thursday (May 6), marking the start of the movement control order (MCO) for six districts in Selangor.

“Almost all police personnel deployed at roadblocks understand that regulations and enforcement being done are based on standard operating procedures (SOP).

“We don’t rule out the possibility that there might be some confusion or mistakes among those stationed at roadblocks, but we hope the people will not panic. Seek the nearest police station to make a report or to get clarification.

“I don’t deny that there might be some shortcomings here and there, but we strive to assist all parties in making their movement or travel smoother,” he told a special press conference in Bukit Aman on Thursday.

Throughout the implementation of the MCO in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, Acryl Sani said people free to travel within the same district.

“Only those in essential services are allowed to travel between districts as well as those who have emergency, medical and education matters to settle, as long as they have the proper travel permits,” said Acryl Sani.

Using the Petaling district as an example he saiud it encompassed Sungai Buloh, Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya and Serdang.

“Those who reside there are free to travel within these areas, but it will be an offence if they travel to the Gombak or Hulu Langat districts,” he said.

Those without permission are also not allowed to enter Kuala Lumpur and vice versa, he added.

In another development, Acryl Sani said not maintaining physical distancing remained the top SOP violation.

“We don’t encounter problems in terms of people wearing face masks, using the MySejahtera app to check, or measure their temperature prior to entering premises, but many are still not maintaining physical distancing.

“I hope the people will always keep in mind physical distancing to curb the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
