Sabotage attempt against Labour leadership falls apart

A sabotage attempt against the leadership of Mr Navin Ramgoolam failed with lack of support from New Delhi, a source said to WFTV.

It was an attempt to split the Labour party’s leadership, pitting the Ramgoolam camp against the Arvind Boolell camp.

But in the current state of affairs, breaking-up of the Labour Party ranks is not an easy thing to achieve.

The source told WFTV an ongoing attempt to break-up the party met with total failure.

Emissaries from Mauritius were on a recent visit to India, to get support from New Delhi.”

The idea was to sabotage the leadership of Mr Ramgoolam, the source from New Delhi said.

However, it did not get support from the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“It is not that India supports Ramgoolam, but the group failed due to their lack of understanding of India’s need.”

The Modi regime will not support a minority Hindu group, let alone a group that has seen its fair share of division lately.

The source did not say whether the group was from the party.

The failure to garner support is mainly due to the Labour Party’s current strength on the ground.

“Mr Boolell come from a minority group within the Hindu community. That group has also been depleted over the years.

“A fair share of this group has joined non-Hindu organisations the like of ‘La Voix De Deliverance.”

“The plan was to break the labour party to prevent the MMM from appointing Mr Madan Dulloo as party deputy.”

“They were thinking an alliance between the MMM and the Boolell faction was possible.”

Why have Dulloo as number two in a future power-sharing deal? Why not Boolell, they thought.
