Malay voters: Finance Ministry in their hands...
A video on the Tanjung Piai by-elections shows anti-Pakatan Harapan sentiments from Malay voters.
The video is circulating on WhatsApp ahead of the Tanjung Piai by-elections on Saturday, 16 Nov.
It says vote for the Barisan Nasional candidate and it is an interview of Malay folks from some villages.
However, the ‘voters’ expressed only one view: They are anti-Pakatan Harapan.
Perhaps this gives an indication of the trend in this by-election where Pakatan is in difficulty.
Some of the folks show their disappointment because there are no changes since Pakatan took power.
Others say Pakatan’s problem is they made promises they did not keep, but no one elaborated on their sentiments.
Another person in the video says in his 62 years living in Malaysia, the only Prime Minister who cares about estate folks is Najib Razak.
Nevertheless, an elderly estate dweller seems to focus his thoughts on who is holding the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transport.
He says it is ‘them’ who are holding these posts. Once they hold these posts, they control everything he says.
However, he seems to be a pro-BN voter. The BN candidate is an ethnic Chinese from the Malaysian Chinese Association.
He is pitted against the Pakatan candidate from Bersatu, PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s party.
Bersatu is having a hard time getting Tanjung Piai voters to support their candidate.
Also on WhatsApp, there is another video is circulating with a message from Dr Mahathir.
The PM urges the Tanjung Piai folks to give his party a chance in these elections.
But at the end of the message —purportedly a phone call from the PM— a voice says ‘Sorry Tun, this time around we will vote for BN.”
