Malaysian Football League has an official crypto partner

Kuala Lumpur, 16 February 2022 — Luno, a regulated digital asset exchange in Malaysia, today announced its collaboration with Malaysian Football League, as the official Crypto Investment Partner and co-sponsor of Liga Super Malaysia.

It will also sponsor the Piala Malaysia, the annual prestigious football tournament.

The one-year partnership deal covers multiple branding rights including pitchside branding, club crest and player image rights, and on-ground activation at stadiums.

The partnership was announced during a ceremony officiated by Aaron Tang, Country Manager, Luno Malaysia and Stuart Ramalingam, CEO of the Malaysian Football League.

Aaron Tang, Country Manager, Luno Malaysia says Luno’s partnership with MFL is a big moment for the company.

“It is our first partnership with a local sports organisation and makes us the first digital asset exchange to support the biggest and most prestigious football competition in Malaysia.

“The Malaysian League has a fan base of over 13 million, so the partnership gives us a great opportunity to engage with new audiences and raise our brand profile among everyday Malaysians who might be considering exploring the world of cryptocurrency.

“Our mission is to put the power of crypto in everyone’s hands in an accessible, convenient and safe way and this partnership is a step towards achieving this in Malaysia. We believe this partnership will bring huge benefits for both parties — nurturing support for local football while creating an opportunity to explore and invest in cryptocurrency.”

The partnership with MFL marks Luno’s first entry into the local sports industry. The company is committed to supporting the local football scene through interactive activities between clubs, players and the football community.

At the same time, Luno lends its support to promote Malaysian football with the hopes of elevating the prestige of national football. Luno looks to forge more relationships with local partners as the company aims to solidify its place as the leading regulated digital asset exchange in Malaysia.

Historic day for Crypto

Stuart Ramalingam, CEO of the Malaysian Football League says this marks a historic day for Malaysian football as we welcome new-age partners that will bring a new exciting image to our League and the reach Liga Malaysia will offer to commercial brands.

“I would like to welcome the newest MFL partner – Luno, Malaysia’s first regulated and leading digital assets exchange, offering Malaysians a safe and secured platform to start investing in cryptocurrencies.

“As the world opens its door in its acceptance of cryptocurrency, this collaboration opens up a whole new horizon for the MFL family of partners with such an extraordinary partnership. Thank you Luno for believing in Malaysian Football and trusting us to help you uplift your brand and the awareness of Luno’s products and services.”

Furthermore, the partnership is part of Luno’s efforts to raise the awareness of cryptocurrency among Malaysians, democratise access to the cryptocurrency market and enhance its financial literacy initiatives to a wider audience.

As part of the partnership, the company will be organising exclusive sessions featuring industry experts where fans can learn more about financial literacy together with their favourite football players.

Luno will also be providing education sessions on digital assets to Malaysian footballers and the wider MFL family. Ultimately, Luno is on mission to promote a conducive environment where Malaysians can invest into digital assets efficiently and responsibly.
