M'sians joke about waiting to collect debris from out-of-control China rocket - The Star Online

PETALING JAYA: Malaysians online are joking about wanting to collect debris from China’s out-of-control rocket if any of it falls in the country.

The Malaysian Space Agency (MySA) had, on Saturday (May 8), urged Malaysians not to touch or collect any debris from China’s 20tonne Long March 5B rocket in the unlikely event any of it falls within the country.

Internet users said that many people will be tempted to touch the debris now that they have been advised against it.

“Tell us NOT to do it, we will definitely do it and post a picture on social media for likes!” said Facebook user Nicoletta Regina Laniarti Sugijono.

“Seriously you’re telling them not to touch? That’s exactly what they will do,” said Twitter user @weenona.

Facebook user Alex Wong said that in 1979, the 77-tonne NASA-built Skylab space station came crashing into Australia’s Outback.

“Luckily nobody got hurt. I hope similarly this China space station will have similar luck by crashing in the ocean,” said Wong.

Ramli Fox also took to Facebook to joke that he will be keeping any relics from the rocket to show to future generations should he get hold of them.

“Gonna keep it as a relic to show my great grandkids,” he said.

Natalie Anne queried whether China will be giving out cash in exchange for the debris.

“In exchange, do we get some cash from China if we find any,” she said.

Meanwhile, Nimajneb Who Oohc hoped that the debris would be made out of valuable metals.

“If debris lands in Malaysia, I hope it’s Vibranium. Wakanda Forever,” he said.
