Majority of MP's in favor of no-confidence vote against President

A majority of MP are in favor of a no-confidence vote against the Mauritius President.

WFTV can ascertain that the no-confidence motion by Opposition MP Shakeel Mohamed gained traction among MP’s.

“A majority will vote for the motion.

“Many among the MSM MP’s support the idea that the President should quit,” said our source.

Yesterday, Mauritian PM Pravind Jugnauth said he met with the President Mrs Ameenah Gurib-Fakim to explain the situation.

He did not mention the motion of no confidence, but he said there are disagreements between the President and himself.

But he told the local media there is a concensus within the government on the issue.

Our source said the government has finally come to terms on the guilt of the President.

Prior to the Jugnauth and Gurib-Fakim meeting, a disagreement surfaced between the PM and his deputy PM.

The deputy PM Ivan Collendavelloo supported the appointment of Gurib-Fakim as President.

He could have been against her resignation at first, we are told.

However, with the obstacles within the government now resolved, the motion will see light soon.

“The motion will pass through, and it might go against her.”

It is clear the President does not want to quit her job.
