NSC: Those with vaccination appointments may travel beyond allowed distance in MCO areas - The Star Online

PETALING JAYA: Individuals scheduled to be vaccinated against Covid-19 may travel beyond the permitted distance during the movement control order (MCO), said the National Security Council (NSC).

In a tweet on Friday (May 7), the NSC said those who had appointments to be vaccinated only need to show details of their appointment if asked by authorities at roadblocks.

“Travelling beyond the allowed distance during the MCO to go to vaccination centres is allowed.

“Please show details of your appointment or verification at MySejahtera if asked by authorities,” it said.

At the same time, NSC also said the public may refer to vaksincovid.gov.my/panduan for a guide on how to register under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

The standard operating procedure (SOP) on areas under MCO, released on Wednesday (May 5), state that vehicles may carry passengers up to their legal capacity in these areas.

The SOP did not specify how far residents may travel from their homes if they are staying in an MCO area.

However, it stated that vehicular travel in MCO areas is limited for the purposes of buying food, groceries, essentials and medical treatment within the same district or the nearest, if necessary.

Previously, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said those living in areas under MCO in Selangor will be allowed inter-district travel to get their Covid-19 vaccination.

Six districts in Selangor – Petaling, Hulu Langat, Gombak, Klang, Kuala Langat, and Sepang – have been placed under MCO from May 6 to 17 due to a recent surge in Covid-19 cases.

Kuala Lumpur has also been placed under MCO from Friday to May 20.
