PKR claims several MPs soliciting SDs from other MPs to obtain positions in current govt - The Star Online
PETALING JAYA: PKR has claimed there are several Members of Parliament (MPs) soliciting statutory declarations (SD) from other MPs in order to obtain positions in the current government.
PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said the party is concerned over allegations that several MPs who do not hold key leadership positions within their own parties are attempting to solicit SDs of support from other MPs in order to acquire positions in the current federal government.
Fahmi said the party is also made to understand that these MPs are soliciting these SDs with the claim they have received the “blessings” of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“As a country that practises the principle of constitutional monarchy, we believe these claims of receiving the ‘blessings’ of His Majesty are manifestly untrue and a disgusting attempt at securing personal gain at a time of national crisis.
“The party holds the position that the name of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong should not be used as a trick to gain the support of other MPs, what more when that support will do absolutely nothing to resolve the problem of a rudderless leadership which the nation is facing right now,” he said in a statement on Thursday (June 10).
Fahmi added that the desperate act of this group must be wholly rejected by the people.
“The focus right now must be towards revitalising the economy and defending the rakyat who have been so affected by the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
