KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating Prasarana chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman for violating the movement control order standard operating procedure.
Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said they opened investigations after viewing a video that showed Tajuddin not wearing a mask during his press conference after visiting the KLCC LRT station.
The Pasir Salak MP allegedly did not wear a face mask during his press conference on the LRT mishap on Tuesday (May 25).
“We are investigating the case under Section 21A of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 as well as Rule 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations,” said ACP Mohamad Zainal.
“Everyone involved in this case will be called to Dang Wangi police headquarters to have their statements taken soon,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (May 26).
He said the investigation papers will be handed over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office for further action once the investigations are completed.
“We advise the public to comply with the SOP set by the National Security Council.
“Failure to comply will lead to action taken under all available laws and regulations,” he said.
Tajuddin was seen only wearing a face shield when he made his site visit and subsequent press conference on Tuesday.
