Prepare aid for those in need, govt told - The Star Online

PETALING JAYA: To cushion the economic fallout from the two-week nationwide lockdown, Pakatan Harapan has called for a bank loan moratorium and cash assistance for the B40 and M40 groups.
Pakatan’s Cost of Living Committee, in declaring its “constructive stance” of supporting the decision, said the government should give aid to the B40 and M40 groups.
“The government must also ensure the daily supply of essentials is enough and delivery is not restricted. The government must also send food baskets to those in need, ” it said in a statement yesterday.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng urged the government to introduce a RM45bil financial assistance package to cushion the impact from the economic fallout.
He said the aid package should last until the year-end or until herd immunity is achieved.
