Public Bank is best MyDebit bank at MEFA

Public Bank Berhad (PBB) got the best MyDebit bank honours at this year’s Malaysian e-Payments Excellence Awards (MEEA) 2019 held in Kuala Lumpur on 31 July 2019.

Public Bank is one of the top performers, securing 4 awards for outstanding contribution towards the growth of Malaysia’s e-payment.

The MEEA is organised annually by Payments Network System (M) Sdn Bhd (PayNet). Specifically, it recognises the outstanding achievements of banks, businesses and government agencies.






Altogether, it honours companies and agencies contributing significantly towards excellence, innovation, growth in electronic payments.

The accolades awarded to PBB were: Top JomPAY Acquirer, Best MyDebit Bank, Top MyDebit Acquirer and Outstanding Contribution to MyDebit.

Assistant Governor Bank Negara Malaysia, Adnan Zaylani Mohd Zahid handed the awards on behalf of PBB to managing director, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Tay Ah Lek.

This is for the third year running PBB is the Best MyDebit Bank in Malaysia. It also retain the Outstanding Contribution award for MyDebit and the Top MyDebit Acquirer Award.

The awards reflect the bank’s strong bundling of innovative e-Payment channels with stable infrastructure. This provides the best support for e-Payments under a reliable, safe and secure environment.

To further accelerate the growth of cashless payments in the country, PBB did a soft launch in mid-July of the Malaysia’s National QR Standard known as DuitNow QR with PayNet. PBB is the first Bank adopting the standard.

Definitely, through DuitNow QR, users can make a payment from any participating Banks or e-Wallets mobile apps.

However, merchants would only need to display one QR Code, the DuitNow QR, to accept payments. On the contrary, the current practice displays multiple proprietary QR codes at payment counters.

Above all, PBB will roll out the DuitNow QR to the public after a two months’ pilot.

Public Bank is also offering Islamic Banking services.
