Strong pressure on Muhyiddin to relinquish power

The rise in the COVID-19 cases, the failure to contain the big wave of outbreak in Sabah are all playing against PM Muhyiddin Yassin.

The latter came on national television last night in an attempt to calm the panic among the people.

There have been wild rumours of a new lockdown, called PKP 2.0 in Malaysia. This has caused jitters among a large number of the population.

The sharp spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state of Kedah is not helping the PM.

As much as the new cases in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, the two crucial economic arteries of the country.

QUIT CALL

The social media networks are now filled with calls for the PM to quit immediately before things go out of hand.

Muhyiddin has allowed events to slip out from his grip when he failed to take action against officials flouting the Covid-19 rules.

The government has also raised the ire of the public since March with its double standard in applying the law.

All offenders are supposed to be fine RM1000 for not wearing masks or not observing social distancing. There is also mandatory jailing for these violations.

This was not the case for a slew of officials and their children who got away with discounted fines and no jailing.

Recently, a deputy minister walked away without any remonstration for flouting the pandemic laws.

It is only after a massive outcry on social media that the authorities ‘investigated’ the matter.

But no one is satisfied with the results of the investigation as the official got away easily. This in contrast with the public who are subjected to strict rules, fines and jailing.

The record breaking rise in COVID-19 cases is now the reason for the people to call for the PM to quit.

They believe he failed in containing the recent surge in the pandemic. The lax attitude after the Sabah elections and missteps in threatening people with ‘rotan’ has deepened the call to quit.

MASSIVE OUTCRY

Last night, Muhyiddin who calls himself ‘Abah’ said he will not hesitate to use the ‘cane’ to punish offenders.

This cause a massive outcry on social media platforms, with netizens retorting want the PM to quit.

Some are saying he should quit for the sake of the beloved nation.

Others are saying Muhyiddin has lost the leadership radar.

They add that it is time for him to do the most honourable thing : resign!
