Syed Saddiq called up by cops again, this over tweet about Tajuddin - The Star Online

PETALING JAYA: Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has been summoned again to give his statement to the police on Thursday (May 27).

The former youth and sports minister said that the police wanted to record his statement in connection with his Twitter post involving former Prasarana chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman on May 25.

“Once again I have been called by the police. This time about this tweet. Was just told I have to be present tomorrow at the police station to record my statement. Please do not seize my phone again, ” he posted on Twitter late Wednesday (May 26) night.

Police have said they are investigating Tajuddin for violating the movement control order standard operating procedure (SOP).

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said they opened investigations after viewing a video that showed Tajuddin not wearing a mask during his press conference after visiting the KLCC LRT station.

The Pasir Salak MP did not wear a face mask but had a face shield on during his press conference on the LRT Kelana Jaya line train collisison on Tuesday (May 25).

On the same day, Syed Saddiq had tweeted, pointing out that wearing a face shield without a face mask was a violation of SOPs under the current MCO.

In the post, he included screenshots of two news reports, one with a photograph of Tajuddin and another with Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob stating that wearing a face shield without a face mask was a punishable offence.

Last Saturday (May 22), Syed Saddiq gave a statement to police after he commented on the death of A. Ganapathy in police custody.

He arrived at the Dang Wangi police headquarters around 9.55am on that day.
