The political scene is the people's focus this week

The Malaysian political scene will be the focus again, this week and all eyes are on the news sites.

The opposition is gearing for a change of regime while the government is barely holding sway.

Rifts in its ranks is growing and no one knows what will be next in the relations between Umno and Bersatu.

The country is in between snap polls or a change of government with Anwar Ibrahim as the new Prime Minister.

Next Tuesday will be two weeks since Anwar announced he has the majority in Parliament. He also says, “The government of Muhyiddin has fallen.”

THE KING

But the Malaysian Royal is not able to grant Anwar an audience as he is undergoing treatment.

The Economist says the Malaysian quagmire could be dispelled by the King. The King is the only one who can appoint as prime minister anyone he believes has a majority of MPs.

It says, “The King has been undergoing such intensive treatment for sore knees and ankles in hospital for the past 11 days, he has not found time to receive Mr Anwar.”

Meanwhile, several experts gave their views on Anwar’s attempt to meet the King to prove he has the majority.

Most of them believe the King has no reason to see Anwar. Others say Anwar is risking it all in pressing the King.

The King did not give any response to the pundits, preferring to undergo carry on with his treatment.

THE UMNO IS STILL HAUNTED BY THE REMNANTS OF THE PRE-2018 SKELETONS

UMNO ARISTOCRATS

The Economist also says Anwar has to depend on the Umno aristocrats. It says they speak cut-glass English and look down on the rough-spoken Umno leader Zahid Hamidi.

The aristocrats believe the fallen Najib Razak is gone and they can soon claim the party is having a makeover.

While they think the Muhyiddin Yassin PN and the Mahathri Mohamad PH has helped to get rid of Najib from the party.

They look forward to an election thinking they will win back the two third’s majority.

That is assuming the voters are fed up with the feud in the PH that led to the PN to take power.
