Total lockdown: Only two people allowed to go out within 10km radius for essentials - The Star Online

PETALING JAYA: Only two people from each household are allowed to go out to buy essentials or seek medical services, with movement limited to a 10km radius from their residence starting Tuesday (June 1), says Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Sports and recreational activities are limited to jogging and exercises that do not involve physical contact, and only from 7am to 8pm.

All work permission letters issued by the International Trade and Industry Ministry are also only valid up to Monday (May 31) and will no longer be valid starting Tuesday (June 1).

The Senior Minister said that the letters can no longer be used effective June 1 and permission letters for inter-district travel will instead be issued by the relevant ministries.

“If it relates to the agriculture sector, the relevant ministry will issue the permit,” he said in his joint press conference on Sunday (May 30).

Ismail said that Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof will chair a coordination meeting with the relevant ministries on Monday (May 31) to discuss the matter.

He said kindergartens and nurseries are not allowed to operate except for those catering to the children of frontliners and parents who are both working.

Ismail Sabri said all private kindergartens, as well as at international schools and for expatriates, are not allowed to operate.
