US exposes its hypocrisy in Syria: No refugee return deal?

The United States exposed its hypocritical stance in the Syrian war, refusing to end its attacks on Syria and stop Israeli bombing of the country.

The US gameplay in the Syrian war caused the friendly-fire that downed a Russian reconnaissance plane killing 15 Russian servicemen. Israel is blamed for the incident.

Now it is going against all expected return of refugees to their homeland. The aim is surely to maintain a state of war over Syria and point the finger on Syria’s regime, its allies and particularly Russia.

Here is the US Position on a recent Russian proposal for refugee returns to Syria. The US stance is expected after its failed regime change attempt in Syria.

In a letter from a political officer at the US Embassy in Russia rejected a Russian appeal for funding for the return of refugees and for infrastructure needs.

The request made by the Russian Ministry of Defense was intended to international donors, seeking support in the Syrian regime’s drive to pacify the country after the 7 years of war.

Rejecting the offer, the US says Russia did not send any plan to decrease the violence or protect returnees from regime prosecution.

The US also denies numerous press reports that it has agreed to proposals relating to refugee returns to Syria. The letter unequivocally denies such reports.

“Our policy is that there will be no US reconstruction assistance to regime-held areas in Syria, nor US support for such reconstruction assistance from other nations, absent a credible political process in Geneva that leads unalterably to constitutional reform,” says the undated letter obtained by WFTV.

Saying the United States continues to support refugee returns when they are safe, voluntary, and dignified, it backed its decision to reject Russia’s requests on the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) assessments that conditions are not yet in place for large-scale refugee returns to Syria.

“As part of a process to resolve the conflict through UNSCR 2254, we are willing to work with the UNHCR on a comprehensive return plan that clearly lays out a fundamental role for UNHCR. Any refugee return plan also needs to address the return needs of the more than 6 million internally displaced Syrians,” says the letter.

it also said its rejection of the Russian request is an “important reminder” that the cessation of violence is a critical element for successful refugee returns.

While it accuses Russia of violations of their commitment to the President of the United States Donald Trump, to maintain a de-escalation zone in southwest Syria, the US is backing Israel in bombing Syrian positions.

It is also bombing regime areas – civilians or military – in a summary manner, using the excuse of ‘chemical’ attacks on pro-US elements by the Syrian regime.

Claiming US humanitarian assistance to Syrians since the start of the Syrian conflict has totalled nearly &8.1 billion, the Embassy letter fails to state how much Washington has spent in its own war in Syria!
