Princess Grace Kelly was and still is well known in the world as a fashion icon. And this is because she has at least two popular design items named after her.

The most notable item is the Hermès Kelly bag, which was called ‘Sac a Dépêches’.

She famously used t to hide her pregnant bump from the paparazzi in 1956.

At that time, it was called a “glamour moment” in 1956. Because Grace Kelly was an actress, fashion icon and she was the Princess of Monaco.

When she used the ‘Sac à Dépêches‘ as a shield to cover up her pregnant belly, it became a viral picture caught by paparazzis.

In her glorious moments, she commissioned Gucci to create the iconic silk scarves, which was the Flora print in the 1960s and it was a gift to the considerable person.

Today, both items are considered as the most iconic products for the brands associated with her name, and they are still selling at the highest prices.

The Hermès Kelly bag is sold for about USD10,000 by some, and when introduced in the 1960’s it was estimated at around £1000.

The Hermès Kelly bag was renamed as such in 1977. Prior to that, it was known as the Sac a Dépêches from the 1930s.

It was created as a travel bag with ample space for high society women to carry their items. They called it a ‘carry on’.

As for Grace Kelly, she has always been associated with high fashion. In a 1954 Alfred Hitchcock film, Rear Window, her character stated she was wearing a $1100 dress.

This was a considerable amount for those days, an even in today’s standard it can be an expensive dress.

In another Alfred Hitchcock film, To Catch A Thief, the designers chose to use Hermès accessories for her character.

It so happened that the Sac a Dépêches was selected as her hand bang and she instantly fell in love with it.

How many celebrities do we see today having their names associated with such lavish brands?

Hence, the question is why Kelly has been and will always be considered an icon for high-end fashion?
