Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that he has requested the Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir, to contact Turkey and Saudi Arabia to express support for convening an extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

He made this announcement via a Facebook post last night. "This session should also involve countries such as Brazil, Russia, and China, which have taken a firm stance against Israel's violence," he said.

Earlier in the Dewan Rakyat, the Prime Minister expressed Malaysia's support for Turkey and Saudi Arabia's proposal to convene an OIC meeting to discuss the Palestinian issue.

Turkish Ambassador to Malaysia Emir Salim Yuksel informed Bernama that Turkey is closely cooperating with Malaysia on the Palestinian issue, including the coordination of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

He mentioned that this matter was discussed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Anwar during the Prime Minister's two-day visit to Turkey on October 21st.
