Khairy: Over 30000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines to be sent to Labuan in coming week - The Star Online

PUTRAJAYA: About 30,000 Covid-19 vaccine doses will be delivered to Labuan in the coming week to address the recent surge in infections in the federal territory, says Khairy Jamaluddin.

The National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister said that the government will reorganise the country’s vaccine deliveries to ensure Labuan gets more vaccine doses soon.

“A discussion was held this morning and there will be a reshuffling of vaccine deliveries especially for Labuan, as the outbreak situation there has become quite critical,” said Khairy at a press conference on Monday (June 14)

He said that over 30,000 vaccine doses will be delivered in a week or two.

“The Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) will look into its delivery capacity to ensure Labuan gets these 30,000 doses as soon as possible, ” said Khairy

The number of active Covid-19 cases in Labuan has seen an exponential rise in the past few days, with new cases reaching over 200 daily.

The island of Labuan has a population of about 100,000, and on June 13, Labuan’s infectivity rate was an RT value of 1.12 – the highest in the country.

At the same press conference, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba revealed that Labuan’s positivity rate during the last epidemiology week is 13.72% – also the country’s highest.
