Saifuddin Visits China
The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato Saifuddin Abdullah is on an Official Visit to the People’s Republic of China from 3 to 4 December 2021.
The visit is at the invitation of His Excellency Wang Yi, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. The Minister of Foreign Affairs will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Saifuddin and His Excellency Wang Yi will co-chair the inaugural meeting of the Malaysia-China High-Level Committee (HLC) on Cooperation in the Post-COVID- 19 Era, which was officially established in April 2021. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format. Senior officials from relevant ministries in Putrajaya and Beijing will participate at the meeting virtually.
The HLC is the Ministerial-level bilateral mechanism between Malaysia and China. Both Ministers will discuss a wide range of collaboration to further strengthen the Malaysia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Areas of cooperation include trade and investment, science and technology, digital economy, commodities and agri-business, health diplomacy, cultural diplomacy, education and tourism. Both Ministers will also review regional and international developments.
This visit signifies the strong partnership and readiness of both Malaysia and China to undertake recovery efforts, as well as promote growth and prosperity for the two nations, following the devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The visit will be held in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) COVID-19 codified by the Governments of Malaysia and the People’s Republic of China.
