Tough Test for the new BMW M4 GT3 at GT Daytona Pro

For the BMW M Motorsport teams and the new BMW M4 GT3, the first 24 Hours of Daytona (USA) proved to be a difficult test, say news reports.

After a challenging race, BMW M Team RLL’s two MOTUL BMW M4 GT3s finished seventh and ninth in the GTD-PRO class, respectively. Early in the race, both cars had issues with their underbodies.

The rear diffusor had to be repaired several times, which took a long time and caused both cars to fall considerably behind the field. Turner Motorsport made a strong comeback in the GTD class, finishing in the top five until they were forced to quit due to a late-night incident.

The 2022 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is set to get underway with one of the most historic races of the calendar.

The 2022 Rolex 24 at Daytona will mark the 60th running of the 24-hour endurance classic at Daytona International Speedway was held on 29th and 30th January.

Motul was powering the efforts of two teams, Pfaff Motorsports and BMW M Team RLL with their range of high-performance racing-grade lubricants, in the newly introduced GT Daytona Pro (GTD Pro) category.

Another Pfaff victory

The Pfaff Motorsports crew of Mathieu Jaminet, Matt Campbell and Felipe Nasr claimed GTD Pro class honors in the Rolex 24 at Daytona after a dramatic deciding battle with fellow Porsche outfit KCMG.

Jaminet and Laurens Vanthoor came to blows at the Le Mans Chicane on the final lap, after Vanthoor tried to out-brake his fellow factory driver on the outside line.

The pair touched as Vanthoor drew alongside, but the No. 2 KCMG Porsche ended up on the grass and wildly spun while Jaminet managed to continue on to the checkered flag without significant delay.
