US-Iran Tensions Escalate as UAE Reports Missile Strikes, Fujairah Oil Facility Hit
US-Iran tensions flare as UAE intercepts missiles, Fujairah oil port hit, and Washington escorts stranded ships under “Project Freedom.”
The fragile truce in the US-Iran war appears broken after the US military said it sank several Iranian fast boats attempting to disrupt commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. President Donald Trump confirmed, “We’ve shot down seven small boats… It’s all they have left.” Helicopters were used in the strikes.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates reported intercepting ballistic and cruise missiles fired from Iran, with a drone attack sparking a fire at Fujairah’s oil port that injured three people. Iran denied involvement, though UAE officials confirmed their air defences were engaged.
The clashes unfolded as Washington launched “Project Freedom” to escort stranded vessels. According to Al Jazeera, nearly 2,000 ships with 20,000 seafarers remain stuck since the war began in February.
